Tony Nominee Ann Hampton Callaway Brings "Finding Beauty" to Utah Tech University

Utah Tech Live is proud to present Tony Award nominee and Women Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee Ann Hampton Callaway in a spellbinding evening of music on January 18, 2025 at the Eccles Fine Arts Center Mainstage Theatre. Her show “Finding Beauty: Inspired Classics and Originals” promises to be an unforgettable celebration of songwriting mastery, featuring selections from her latest album alongside beloved classics that have shaped her artistic journey.

Callaway stands as one of America’s most versatile and accomplished artists, earning praise from The New York Times for her unmatched “vocal beauty.” Her multifaceted career spans Broadway, jazz, cabaret, and television, including her Tony-nominated performance in “Swing!” and writing and performing the beloved theme song to “The Nanny.”

Her latest album, “Finding Beauty: Originals Volume 1,” represents a milestone in her illustrious career as her first collection comprised entirely of original compositions. The album showcases collaborations with an impressive roster of artists, including Kurt Elling, Melissa Manchester, and Tierney Sutton, demonstrating the deep respect she commands within the music community.

Throughout her career, Callaway’s compositions have been recorded by legendary artists, with Barbra Streisand featuring her songs on seven albums. Her peace anthem “At the Same Time,” which she’ll perform at the upcoming concert, holds special significance – she once performed it a cappella for former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.

The January 18th performance will weave together original compositions with interpretations of songs by artists who inspired her songwriting journey, including Carole King, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, and Paul Simon. Audiences can expect to hear pieces co-written with Oscar winner Alan Bergman, Grammy winner Melissa Manchester, and Grammy nominee Amanda McBroom.

Don’t miss this opportunity to experience what Broadway World’s “Entertainer of the Year” brings to the stage in an intimate 75-minute performance that promises to showcase both rousing showstoppers and exquisite ballads.
